Acupuncture Benefits

Acupuncture is deeply rooted in traditional Chinese History and is now coming to the forefront of the ancillary healthcare market. Government Registration means that Acupuncture is now recognized as a scientifically proven healthcare option.

At Physionorth we blend Traditional Chinese Medicine with evidence-based Western Acupuncture.

Our Acupuncturist Rebekah can tailor your treatment to your specific requirements. Traditional Acupuncture treats common musculoskeletal complaints such as:

  • Shoulder Pain
  • Bursitis
  • Osteo Arthritis
  • Plantar Fasiciitis
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Lower Back Pain
  • Shin Splints
  • Pregnancy Pain

It is also effective in treating long-term chronic pain syndromes such as:

  • Fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue
  • Stress & Anxiety
  • Irritable Bowel
  • Constipation
  • Sleep Disorders

Acupuncture is also an effective tool in post-operative recovery, and often the first port of call as it is the gentlest form of treatment and can facilitate healing and reduction of scar tissue.

IMG_7300-copyWestern Acupuncture Vs Traditional Acupuncture What’s the Difference?

Western Acupuncture: uses a selection of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture points that have been scientifically proven to have effects on the nervous system and endocrine function of the body. They are clinically proven to reduce pain and increase white blood cells to facilitate cellular repair.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture: still acts on the nervous system, increases white blood cells and reduces pain, however, the body is considered as a whole and a full consultation is required to assess the constitution before treatment. It is important in Chinese Medicine to identify the root cause of the Pathology and not just treat the symptoms. This is why Traditional Chinese Medicine is often effective in treating conditions that do not respond to conventional treatment.

The risks of Acupuncture and Dry Needling are minor and your therapist will explain these in full prior to treatment. Single use sterile needles are used at Physionorth. Rebekah Rogerson is our registered Acupuncturist with the CMBA (Chinese Medicine Board of Australia) with a BHsc (Acupuncture).
